Review: Josie Maran, Argan Naturally Long Lasting Eye Liner, Black Raven

June 12, 2012

Josie Maran is a relatively new-to-me brand that I’m enjoying exploring.  ”Luxury with a Conscience” gives me good vibes. :)

“Existing eco-friendly, natural beauty products lacked the sophistication and level of luxury she craved. It was hard to find luxurious products that were pure, gentle, nontoxic, eco-friendly–and sophisticated. . . .   So Josie Maran Cosmetics was born.”  Excerpt from Josie Maran Cosmetics Website

In today’s post, let’s take a peek at Josie’s Argan Naturally Long Lasting Eye Liner in Black Raven.

What I Like:

  • Very dark black, very opaque.  It’s not hard to get a bold, clean line.
  • Smooth, easy-to-use formula means no tugging or pulling on delicate eye area.  It glides on effortlessly.
  • The recipe doesn’t irritate or bother my peepers — Woo!  In fact, I can use this on my waterline (sometimes called lower/inner rim) without problems.
  • The smudger on the other end of the pencil is exceptional for creating a smoky effect.  Rawr.
  • Works well as an eyebrow filler, as well.

What I Don’t Like:

  • This product eventually smudges and smears on me.  It doesn’t perform as well as the gel liners that I frequently use.

Can you guess my swatch inspiration for this week?!

So what do you think of Josie Maran, my pretties?!! :)

Great post, this is the first I’ve seen of this eyeliner. I’ve seen other JM stuff and wondered how it was. I love that the eyeliner has a smudger on the opposite end. You mentioned that it eventually smears, do you think it’s a bad choice for someone whose eyes tend to water a bit? Loved the song on this post and your rain cloud swatch, lol

    • Thank you, darlin’! If you’re eyes water a bit, I’d definitely keep it off of your waterline, but it’s worth a shot under and above the eyelashes. It’s not a bad product at all — I have hooded lids and so I have significantly more problems with fading/smearing than most folks. Hope this helps!! :)
