Dior - Diorskin Shimmer Star

.

If you clicked soley because of the cat, it’s ok.  I did, too. :)  *High five for animals wearing people stuff.*

.

Today, we’re talking about one of my all-time favorite cosmetic items: HIGHLIGHTERS, also known as glow, illuminators, shimmer dust, etc.  I adore highlighting products.  Used correctly they can add such je ne sais quoi! ;)

.

I’ve been using Diorskin Shimmer Powder for the last several weeks in the #002 shade called Amber Diamond.

Each of the four colors have the same level of shimmer, which is, by the way, very fine.  No glitter to be found here.

Highlighters are always a bit mystical to swatch (wink) and as expected, you’ve just got to see it in person to fully appreciate the subtle nuances and fine details.  These swatches are decidedly HEAVY for your viewing pleasures.  In real-life application, however, they apply as a very subtle gleam.  Beautiful.

The two shades on the left (the lightest) are perfect for the bridge of your nose, inner eyes, under brow bones and tops of cheekbones.  The two shades on the right, are (depending on your skin tone) lovely for shimmering blush, contouring and bronzing.

What say you, beauties?! Yay or Nay?

When I first met Mary-Lou Manizer, I knew she must be mine.  I got an adorabley packaged sample in my Birchbox and that’s all she wrote, folks.

An eye shadow, highlighter, lip shimmer . . . the possibilities just don’t end for Mary-Lou.  Beautiful on  cheeks, cheekbones, eye lids, rims, inner corners of eyes, brow bones, lips, shoulders, decollete . . .   She’s a honey-colored darling with the very finest, subtlest shimmer.  It’s not a glittery, snow-globe type of product.  People who prefer a delicate, sophisticated, light hand will appreciate Mary-Lou.

The sample is packaged in colorful cardboard with a magnetic closure.  The product itself is pressed into a standard, metal shadow/blush pan.  Threre’s quite a bit of product in here for a mere sample!

The full-size product is in a plastic compact with a mirror.

This is a very heavy swatch to show the color and depth.  Used as a highlighter, the finish is  light, subtle, radiant and gorgeous.  I simply cannot capture it with my camera!!

.

.

Mary-Lou Manizer is a fantabulous, versatile product suitable for every complexion, excellent for quick, portable, on-the-go circumstances and for everyday use.  It’s a basic, no-fuss product that’s just stupendous enough that it MIGHT become your next favorite. =D

Cheers, honeys!

WHAT:  Nars, Highlighter/Blush Duo in the shades Hungry Heart and Orgasm, found in the Nars Beach Lover set at Sephora.

WHO WILL LOVE THIS:  Anyone desiring low  pigmentation (a.k.a. no chance of clown  cheeks) in a universally flattering peachy pink shade (Orgasm) with a matching highlighter (Hungry Heart) that features the same gold shimmer in the blush.  Nars lover’s will enjoy this one, as will those with a fondness for nautical themes.  The blush/highlighter duo is a no-brainer for any beach getaway.  Easy to apply, quick and gorgeous.  Leaves more time for awesomeness.  Whether you define that as sunbathing, surfing, shopping or partying, is up to you. :)

If you desire the same Orgasm shade, but in richer pigmentation, there are many dupes available.  My personal favorite is a better-for-your-skin product, called “Ditto O,”  found here.

For a lovely Hungry Heart substitute, that’s easier on your wallet AND your skin, check out Flash Glow here.

WHEN:  Lovely 365 days of the year.

Being the glow-lover that I am, I wanted a highlighter that would give that ethereal princess look WITHOUT adding any color to my skin.  And this Baked Bronzer, from Femme Couture, in the lightest shade of Summer Kiss, fits the bill perfectly.  Using a fluffy powder brush or even a fiber optic “skunk brush”, this is easily applied to cheekbones.  Use an eye shadow brush or your fingertip to sweep the product onto the bridge of your nose, and under the brow bone.  Use this all over the lid for a very sweet, dewy, almost-wet look — very alluring.  And for those come-hither, romantic summer nights, apply Summer Kiss to your shoulders, arms and decolleté.

I picked up my Summer Kiss from the Sally Beauty down the road, but if you don’t feel like going out, get your hermit on and browse online.  This magnificent baked bronzer comes in four colors to choose from.

(Be sure to click on the photos for a super zoomed in looksie!)

If you enjoy products with the beautiful marbling, then you’ll dig this, for sure.  Looking at the product is like looking at artwork.

What’s your favorite way to highlight?
